So good! They have a price fixe menu and it had a great sampling of their menu on it. It was really great to be able to share our food. The serving sizes were perfect for a meal before a play. We allowed two hours before our play and could have used an extra half hour. So plan accordingly. We had butter chicken, pistachio chicken, the lamb chop and the shrimp. All were awesome but of you like your food spicy make sure to tell them. We had a 2-3 spice and some of us wanted a little more. I thought it was perfect. The wait staff was helpful and polite. Everyone took great care of us.

Went there before a theatre show. They offered a 15% discount for pre-show guests. Just show your tickets. We ordered off the pre-theatre menu which offered an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. Staff was outstanding. Helpful in making selections and attentive. Food was outstanding. Fresh and authentic. Enjoyed the variety of appetizers and desserts. Good selection of cocktails, alcohol, and mock-tails. Prices were standard and even reasonable for New York. Seating was spacious enough to enjoy our meal. Clean, table linen tables. Would definitely go back! Worthy restaurant for a broadway type date-night.

Overall, I really enjoyed Saar! Service was very fast which was especially helpful because me and my friend had a Broadway show to catch right after! We let them know what time we had to leave by at the beginning of the meal and they were very speedy and accommodating! As for the meal itself, all of the food was super flavorful-- well spiced and delicious. I would highly recommend!

Take-away review The online ordering menu is a little confusing for the lunch option as you have a free form to order what dish you want in the options (Veg $14, non-veg/chicken $15, lamb $16 or seafood $16). The interior is beautifully decorated with open space and pops of color. The staff were very friendly when I came to pick up the order. The food was piping hot and well-packed. The lunch deal of $15 was such a steal!! It came with a good potion of meat, dal, veggie dish, rice, and a huge naan (pictured is only half of it). The naan was extremely fluffy and soft. The korma used chicken thigh pieces and cooked super tender and full of flavor. Definitely will be coming back to try their other dishes.

Great food and service. Had an eclectic ambiance yet comfortable. We tried the lunch 2-3 course option. Samosas and lamb kebabs as apps were tasty. Mains of chicken korma and Delhi ka butter chicken were delicious at medium spicy. Saffron rice pudding as dessert was a new experience. All a great post Broadway meal experience.

We were invited here for a birthday celebration dinner. Upon entry, the decor is Southern Indian modern. It is elegant and clean looking. Immediately we were seated at our table which we reserved. The waiter came immediately to see if we would like to order drinks. I've decided to wait for the birthday girl to arrive. As soon as everyone arrived, we ordered drinks. I decided to try Harmony which is a non-acholic drink of lychee, lavender and sweet sour. It was light, refreshing & totally the best dinner drink. The table decided to order a few appetizers and then entrees to share for the table. Here are my highlights. Samosa tasting, Lasooni Kebab, Naan, Palongshaager Chochor, & Cochin Black Pepper Chicken What's ok: Ragda Chaat, crispy okra salad Overall it was a yummy dinner with really good spices and according to my friend's family who is from South India, good was authentic and very well prepared. I would definitely say it's the higher end of Indian food and a great place for quality food & social events. But would be for me too much of a everyday meal.

This has got to be the best Indian food in NYC. We got the tandoori lamb chops and the butter chicken and they were both delicious! The place was beautifully decorated in bright colored and felt so comfortable. The service was friendly. I will definitely come back next time I'm in NYC

Came here for brunch on a Saturday with two others. The restaurant had just opened upon our arrival, so the crowded was very limited. Two of us decided to do the three course lunch special ($30) while another decided to order from the regular menu. However, we shared everything and had leftovers afterwards. For appetizers, we got the Samosa Tasting, which consisted 2 of each: jalapeno & cheese, potato & peas, and lamb & peas. The other appetizer we had was the Saar Lamb Kebab, which I would highly recommend between the two. For entrees, I ordered the popular Delhi Ka Butter Chicken, which I enjoyed a lot. We also ordered the Tandoori Lamb Chops, which costed an extra $7 with the two or three course lunch special. I did not think this was worth it as the chops were pretty small to be paying extra. The other entree we ordered off the lunch special was the Biryani Chicken ($20). The rice for sure filled us up very quick, where we ended up taking this back as leftovers. Loved the flavoring of the dish. For dessert, we got the Gulab Jamun, which is not too sweet as we expected it to be. It is served hot as a fair warning to not burn your tongue. The other dessert was the Ras Malai. No comments as I didn't get to try it. If you're looking for a drink, I recommend getting the Masala Chai ($5). I added a pack of sugar for the added sweetness along with the chai taste.
